Instagram stories are incredibly popular [read what they are here & how to make the most of them here] & Instagram has now launched another Stories feature which makes them even more brilliant!

You can now add your Instagram stories to your Stories highlights making them last forever on your profile & drawing your audience to content that you really want to promote & shout about. They show up just above your standard Instagram posts & will stay there as long as you want them to. For businesses, you could showcase your latest workshop, offer or product to get maximum views & exposure.

Instagram automatically archives your stories when they vanish after the standard 24 hour period, this means they are available to add to your Instagram Highlights whenever it suits you!

Here’s an interesting quote from Instagram explaining why they have introduced this feature – basically, they noticed as the popularity of stories keeps rising, people are posting less & less on their actual profile – so, they wanted to try & change this.

“As more and more people adopt Stories, we realized that the profile has become less and less representative of you and your life” an Instagram spokesperson tells me. “And yet the profile is one of the top destinations on Instagram – it’s a powerful space for self-expression and feeling closer to others. But up until now there was no way to keep your favorite stories or add them to your profile – we wanted to fix that.” – Instagram

So, how do you add to your Stories Highlights:

*Click on the Stories Highlights section of your Instagram profile – this is a new section that can found just above your standard posts & just below your Instagram bio. [If it’s not there you may need to update your Instagram App]

*Choose the Stories you want to add to your Highlights from the list of archived stories that Instagram has created for you.

*Give your highlight a name such as ‘Latest News’, ‘Latest Offer’ etc. [If you don’t Instagram will automatically call it ‘Highlights’.]

*Then, you’re done & the highlight will stay on your Instagram profile for others to view & reply to.

*Once added if you want to edit or remove your Highlight hold down on it & the edit/remove function will appear.
